Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering incorporated in the year 2009 has an annual intake of 180 students and has already witnessed three  batches of students succesfully passed out. Confirming to the objectives of the department its students have found placement in some of the reputed organisations besides many persuing higher studies both in India and abroad.

The strength of the department lies in its faculty who have individual experience range of 5 to 35 years. There are some very highly acclaimed professors who have been guiding the department towards excelence in teaching and learning process.

The department’s professional programme includes a deeper study of a number of engineering sciences to which the students are introduced at the core curriculum level, experimental solution of physical problems, techniques and method of design of systems relevant to the contemporary industrial world.

The broad areas include Energy Conversion and Power Systems, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids and Stress Analysis, Manufacturing Science, Industrial Engineering, Automatic Controls and Engineering Design. Laboratory experience is considered to be an important part of the mechanical engineering programme. There are course oriented laboratories where the students do experimental work leading to a better understanding of physical situations.

The department of Mechanical Engineering has under-graduate programme leading to B.Tech. besides Post-Graduate programmes leading to M.Tech. in Thermal Engineering under BPUT curriculum. In the Post-Graduate programme the emphasis will be on the development of a broad background in a particular stream followed by a deeper study of a problem in the stream.

Vision of the Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering endeavours to be recognized globally for outstanding education and research leading to well qualified engineers, who are innovative, entrepreneurial and successful in the field of mechanical engineering to cater the ever changing industrial demands and societal needs.
